Visitations

Visitations uses a similar approach to Travelling Without Moving, but here the glitchy virtual lens engages in an eerie kind of dark tourism. The series explores our new ability to visit the sites of crimes and disasters without leaving the comfort of our homes. We can use Street View to engage in a kind of rephotography, charting how the locations of catastrophe are recovering, such as Fukushima Prefecture. Other areas explored include Chernobyl, Syria, Sakhalin and Ruinerwold.
